The kangaroos are regulars at the local watering hole, and know no boundaries – hopping over our fences as if they weren’t even there!

A short walk to Little Oberon Bay

This walk to Little Oberon Bay happened on a grey day in August following a period of wet weather and high tides.  Because we only had a few hours available, and I know Bob is not keen on clambering over rocks, I chose a fairly straight-forward track-walk starting near the new Wilderness Retreats at Tidal River.

Rocks at Little Waterloo Bay

Rocks at Little Waterloo Bay

The rocks in the Wilsons Promontory National Park are often covered in a brilliant orange lichen.  These boulders are on the beach at Little Waterloo Bay.  The fine grained granite sand is created by these rocks being pounded by the heavy surf from Bass Strait.

Growth of a Banksia Flower

These shots were taken on the track to Mount Vereker.  The banksias were in full flower, and offered some divine shapes and shades!

The Gippsland Tourism Sector was inspired last night by passionate and insightful speeches from renowned restaurateur Dur-e’ Dara and Tourism Victoria Director Geoffrey Conaghan at the Gippsland Tourism Awards hosted by Bis Cucina in Sale.

Ms Kaye Brown from Springbank B&B, a finalist in the Deluxe Accommodation Category, summed it up for many:’It was enjoyable, refreshing, encouraging, and great to see and meet the people behind the businesses in Gippsland – a huge network demonstrating dedication and perseverance and a willingness to share something in the face of adversity.

Limosa Rise declared Finalist For Victorian Tourism Awards 2007

Limosa Rise qualified as a Finalist in the 2007 Victorian Tourism Awards in the category: Deluxe Accommodation.

Update: We are finalists again in 2008!

We were up against stiff competition: the Crown Promenade Hotel won, with Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens and Sebel Heritage Yarra Valley also qualifying as finalists.

Limosa Rise wins Gippsland Tourism Award 2007

In July 2007, we attended a Gippsland Tourism Awards presentation evening in Sale and were thrilled to be announced Winners in the Deluxe Accommodation category.

We’d already been working closely with other operators in Gippsland.  Our entry involved completion of two out of the five sections required for entry into the Victorian Tourism Awards.
